Masham School’s Strategic Direction

1. Masham School’s Governing Body has three core functions:

 (i) To set the School’s vision, ethos and strategic direction;

 (ii) To hold the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the School, its pupils and the     performance management of staff; and

 iii) To ensure the School’s financial health, probity and value for money.

The Governors review the School’s strategic direction every two years.

 2. In 202, the Governing Body agreed the School should:

  (i) Develop the full academic, social, moral, spiritual and physical potential of each pupil. Ensure all pupils make good or very good progress and meet the needs of vulnerable groups, children with SEND, and high attaining pupils. Encourage all children to be aspirational for their future.

 (ii) Recruit, retain and develop excellent staff, providing them with the support they need to flourish.

 (iii) Strive to be assessed by North Yorkshire County Council and Ofsted as ‘Outstanding’, particularly in the quality of teaching and learning, delivered through a broad and balanced curriculum.

 (iv) Develop the School’s distinctiveness and values as a Church of England school and be rated as excellent when next inspected as a church school.  Ensure that the Christian Vision and values are at the core of every aspect of school life, learning and decision-making.

 (v) Work collaboratively with parents, the Church, the community, local schools and partners.

 (vi) Keep up-to-date with national and local changes to school structures, and regularly review the School’s position.
