Masham School’s Strategic Direction

 1. Masham School’s Governing Body has three core functions:

(i) Setting the School’s strategic direction;

(ii) Holding the Headteacher to account for the School’s educational performance; and

(iii) Ensuring financial health, probity and value for money.

2. The Governors agreed in 2017 that the School should:

 (i) Develop the full academic, social, moral, spiritual and physical potential of each pupil. Monitor progress and attainment. Ensure the needs of vulnerable groups, children with SEND, and high attaining pupils are met.

 (ii) Recruit, retain and develop excellent staff.

 (iii) Continue to be assessed by North Yorkshire County Council and Ofsted as ‘Outstanding’.

 (iv) Dvelop the School’s distinctiveness and values as a Church of England school and be rated as outstanding when inspected as a church school.

 (v) Continue to meet the demand for places for local children and, bearing in mind the likely extra housing in the town, provide additional internal and external facilities to match the increasing number on roll without losing the essential spirit of the School.

 (vi) Work collaboratively with parents, the Church, community, local schools and partners; and develop significant curricular initiatives like SOLE.

 (vii) Keep up-to-date with national and local changes to school structures, and regularly review the School’s position.
